I am going to a wedding and was wondering if my light purple/lavender (dress) shirt would go well with my charcoal gray pants? I also have a pair of black slacks to match w/ my lavender shirt but thought maybe I could switch it up a bit.
Is it okay to wear charcoal gray pants to a wedding rather than the traditional black slacks? I am worried charcoal might be too business looking.

Anything will match a neutral. You can go with any print or color or another neutral of opposite color. A light lavender shirt would look fantastic. Black pants would be more office appropriate, gray slacks are a little more casual. If you are going to a day wedding gray slacks will be perfect. For an evening wedding or very fancy wedding you will want to do black slacks and a nice clutch and plenty of accessories to dress it up.
You can look very professional in charcoal or dress-casual as well. I usual accompany mine with a light green or yellow dress shirt.
