What color would look like the highlights, good with blonde hair?

I have dishwater / golden blonde hair. I wanted highlights, but am not sure what color would look good. I want something that will blend in and show the same time. I wanted to try, in time, before I get a permanent basis. My prom is the second May and I’m on the committee. So I really want to make sure that my highlights before then. Any ideas? I do not want black highlights.

Get either a darker shade of blond or one or two shades lighter. That always looks good.
