I am tryin to dye my hair a medium blonde(my hair is a medium brown). But every time i try dying my hair blonde, it gets an orange-ish or a red-ish tone. How do i dye it without it turning a redish or and orangish color??? Please Help!

  1. often drugstore color is not strong enough to lighten brown hair to a neutral blond, especially if you have previously colored your hair. also the tone of blond you are choosing makes a big difference. you would want to choose a cool shade like ash because it will help to neutralize the warm tones in your hair.

  2. By using color that has a blue or blue/green tone in it this will reduce that problem and go just two to three shades lighter then your brown hair is .

  3. Hair is made of melanin. People who have brown and black hair have something called eumelanin and that has dark brown and black colors. Lighter colors like blond shades are usually made of pheomelanin (don’t know if I spelled it right..) but since dark brown hair has underneath the dark brown or black is usually orange until you bleach it again and then it becomes lighter and then goes to blond.

But for your hair.. I don’t know if your hair is light brown or dark brown… if it is light brown you just have to bleach it once or twice. If your hair is dark brown then you might need to go for 3x same with black hair. Bleaching hair works a lot better on virgin hair color meaning it is natural and not dyed to that specific color.

    Hope this helps!
