I want to grow out all my dry hair and start a healthy hair journey from today Any advice?

By Baday, February 20, 2010 11:11 am

Yesterday I got my hair straightened at the salon and I know how BAD this is for your hair. Especially mine because my hair was dry before and I live in a dry climate. Now it’s damaged and dry and I want to start a healthy hair journey from today to grow ALL of the dry hair out to natural healthy hair. I am a very hair obsessed person so advice would be very appreciated!

I understand this would take years to grow out all the dry hair.

Find the right type of hair products that work for your hair. Go to the salon every 6th months to avoid split ends, and don’t put your hair up in a ponytail when it’s wet, let alone dry. Use cold blast if you want to blow dry it. . . This is all I can think of. Good luck with growing your hair out!

i mighten really be able to help but my hairdresser tell me if my hair is dry i should get my hair cut so she will cut the dead ends off and trim it up and theirs your start to healthy hair you shouldn’t straighten it all the time because that isnt good for for your hair you could buy like hair oil product just as long as you dont put it all in the same spot i know thats not natural but it a start sorry if it doesnt help

If it is in REALLY bad condition the best approach is to cut it all off and start fresh. I ended up doing that recently after spending close to six months (and several thousand dollars) trying to repair the damage done by a perm gone wrong. The so-called senior stylist had left the perming solution in WAY too long and had damaged it to the state where it broke if I so much as LOOKED at a hairbrush!

Cutting it all of is a very liberating feeling, plus there is the pleasure you get from watching NEW, HEALTHY hair grow with none of the dead stuff attached to it. I’ve gone from hip length curls to shoulder length waves so you can imagine how devastated I was by all that damage!
To ensure your new hair grows through healthy, eat high protein foods (hair is protein), deep condition your hair weekly, take a prenatal vitamin supplement and get REGULAR trims. Don’t dye it, chemically treat it (perm, chemical straightening) or heat treat it. That means throw the dang hair curlers, straightener and blowdryer OUT!

To improve your hair you can:

-Use shampoo and conditioning products due to your hair type.

-Use hair treatments that can boost your hair (make it shiny, softer etc)

-Let your hair dry etc naturally. If you prefer to blow dry, straighten or curl, use a heat protection product.
