vaseline will mess up everything you wear it will give stuff oil stains that are hard as hell to get out. Use aloe vera or coco butter

I don’t know if Vaseline will work… But i got burnt really bad at a track meet this year and the stuff that i found worked the best was Solarcaine. you can buy it at Walmart and it’s spray on and it’s not slimy or anything. It’s really cold when you spray it on and it takes the heat out of your sunburn so it doesn’t hurt as bad either. It works really fast too. When i used it i didn’t even peel when the sunburn went away.

Yes Vaseline will most definitely help heal your sunburn, however it would be more beneficial if you had an Aloe Vera plant or a moisturizer containing it, as Aloe Vera is one of the most effective ways of treating sunburn :)

vaseline traps moisture and can hinder the healing process (esp in tattoos) get aloe vera gel, even better if you can get it from the plant, but it will cool/soothe and its been used for healing for centuries in the desert..

accdg. to some doctors these are some treatments you can do to treat your skin..
-apply cool compresses to the skin to help ease the pain of a sunburn
-cool off with a soak. if you feel you must use soap then use mild ones like Dove or Aveeno Bar. Tap dont rub. but dont soak too much because your skin will increase its peeling.
-toss in some oatmeal. adding skin soothers like oatmeal or baking soda to the bath.
-bring on the Aloe Vera. the thick, gel-like juice of the aloe vera can take the sting and redness out of a sunburn. Aloe vera causes blood vessels to constrict and can take some of the redness and soreness out of your burn. apply 5-6 times per day for several days.
-drink up
-moisturize, for even cooler relief, chill the moisturizer in the refrigerator before using.
you can do some of those steps.. vaseline can be helpful since it is thick and has more oil content than other lotions. always use thick lotions and pat it on skin.
for better relief
apply PETROLATUM since it is ALL OIL i used it when i got sunburned and after 3 days the burn was gone.

Do NOT use vaseline. It will trap heat inside your skin. The best way to go is aloe vera.

DO NOT USE VASELINE. as Nat said it will trap in the heat and it will hurt. I also wouldnt use lotion until 1 or 2 days after you recieve the burn, then apply it generously. i sunburned my entire body…..what i found worked the best is applying room temperature vinegar with an old beat up T-shirt i had in the back of my closet. it took the heat out. then wash in luke warm water using a dove white bar (cold water can chap the burn). the last step is very important….ALOE VERA! :)
