Does anyone know if the Claires store gives helix and conch piercings?
I really want to get a helix and conch piercing, and the only local, teen/children non-intimidating piercing store is ‘Claires Accessories’ in the mall. I know they give lobe piercings, but does anyone know if they give helix and conches? If anyone knows any good piercing places in the Boston, MA area, i’d appreciate it. :)
Also, if anyone has any tips, or things I need to know for helix and conch piercings, could you post them here? Thanks!!

nope, you have to go to a tattoo/piercing shop to get those done. I have my conch and love it (be warned, it takes quite a while (a few months) to stop being tender if you bump it).

No, claire’s only gives lobe peircings sorry. But clairs sells the little things that you put on peircings. Try going to a tattoo parlor to see if they do peircings there. good luck!

Yah, I doubt it. But don’t you have a piercing Pagoda in the mall? Maybe they’d do it.
My mom did that part of my ear around three years ago – I never knew they had a name for it, lol

ok i think those are just higher up on the ear like the cartilage areas right? one in the middle and one above? yeah they do it, I’ve had 3 done there. 2 up top and 1 in the middle. at least they used to, i’ve had mine for at least 5 years, so maybe they don’t anymore i’m not sure
tattoo shops don’t recommend it because it causes trauma just using a gun to punch through. but if they can do it at claire’s i don’t see any problem doing it!

I don’t think they give conch piercings, and either way, they don’t have the little hoops so it really would look stupid. I’m not sure they give helix piercings either. It’s best to just ask and show them what you want, but I know they only offer studs. Just Google “Piercings Boston MA” to see if there’s any piercing places where you live. They have reviews and everything so you’ll know if they’re good or not. Helix and conch piercings hurt like hell, of course. And they leave you very susceptible to ear collapse, which I’ve seen happen. It’s not pretty. Be sure you’re prepared to clean it and wait the extremely long time they take to heal. They can look really cool when not swollen, disgusting and red.

I don’t think that Claire’s would offer any cartilage piercings. Even if they did offer to do the conch and helix for you I wouldn’t recommend it. Think of your cartilage as REALLY soft bone. If you get this area pierced with a piercing gun (used at most, if not all, claires and piercing pagodas) it could shatter this tissue. The piercing gun exudes pressure over a large area which creates a lot more scar tissue than necessary. This scar tissue build up could lead to deformities in the cartilage. Also, piercing guns are usually made of plastic. This means that the guns can not be properly sterilized. Autoclaves are the best method for sterilization. With the guns all the piercer can really do is wipe down the gun with alcohol swabs.
The best way to find a piercing studio is just to google “Boston piercing studio” and go through the websites. I know it sounds boring and tedious but by clicking on the websites you may get some useful information as to the studio’s cleaning methods and sometimes you can view a piercer’s gallery. Before you make any rash decisions about the studio, check it out and make sure that’s what you want. Best of luck!

Ok, DO NOT go to Claires to get a serious peircing. I wouldn’t even go to Claires to get my daughters ears peirced (if I had a daughter, I don’t). Claires usually use a gun (already stated) Guns don’t so much pierce as they pressure the earring through the skin, not good or even easy on Cartilage (also stated before). INPROPER cartilage piercing could result in major problems, infections, even necrosis of the ear (not stated). Plus the whole sterilization of guns; when “piercing” one client with a gun the pressure causes blood to be popped out when squeezing that earring in place, spraying the gun with a fine mist of said blood and this can cause easy cross cotamination between clients.
Please go to a place that has been well researched for their sterilization and procedures. and client reviews should be phenominal.
(HTC is wonderful if you’re in Arizona, got my eyebrow and tongue done there, going in soon for my conch.)
