How long does an inside the lip tattoo take to heal? How much would it cost?

I’m thinking about getting an inside the lip tattoo of something. I was wondering how much it would cost and how long would I be in pain for/how long it would take to heal.

  1. i dont know if it hurt that bad i only have one on my back.

my cousin has his id number from the army on his lip

  2. I have a friend that had it done, it only cost her $30, but it depends on where you go. My piercings are always at least $40. She has a lot of piercings, and said it was the least painful. I don’t think you have a lot of nerve endings in that particular spot.

However… she didn’t keep it in for very long. It was too hard for her to take care of and it even ripped once. If I were you, I would consider a different piercing. There’s probably a reason why you don’t see too many people with it.

  3. It will be very painful, well it was for me, it is worse than having a tattoo anywhere else.
After you get it your lips will be full of blisters and for a week or so your lips will be full of scabs. They will eventually come off.
I went through it all and it was an interesting experience but I don’t think I’ll ever do it again. Good Luck!

  4. I am not sure how long it takes to heal, but I did ask about this about a year ago when I was interested in having it done. The artist who does my tats said that it does take awhile to heal and because of the moisture of the mouth most people have to have the tat traced over more then once after it heals to make it show up good enough to see..so unless you want to have it done a few times in the same spot I say opt for somewhere else on the body!

  5. The cost will vary by shop but the thing you should remember about tattoos inside your lip is that they are likely to fall out. The skin on the inside of your lip isn’t optimal for tattooing, it sloughs off at a higher rate than skin elsewhere on your body. While I know people who have tattoos on the insides of their lips that they have only had touched up once and have lasted for years I know far more people who got them and lost them really quickly. For instance, I heard a story from one guy in particular who got the word “COFFEE” tattooed on the inside of his lip and by the end of the night (a matter of HOURS LATER) all it said was FF. Another gal told me that she got “POISON” tattooed and the artist spelled it wrong so she went home and scrubbed it out with a toothbrush. That should give you a rough idea how stable those tattoos are.

There are much better locations to invest your money in. However, on the plus side, everyone I have talked to who has a tattoo there says they heal quickly. So that is a plus, I suppose.

  6. Most artists will charge more for any tattoo above the neck or below the wrist. They usually have a separate “shop minimum” for those.

There’s no way for anyone on here to tell you what you’ll pay for it. It all depends on the shops in your area and what they charge as a minimum for those tattoos.

It seems to me that it would take awhile to heal, but your mouth heals quicker than the rest of your body, so…. Who knows??? I don’t have one, so I can’t tell ya that.

    ;-)
