How old do you have to be to get a tattoo in California with parental consent?

While I’m not old enough to get a tattoo yet, I will be when I’m seventeen. My friend and I are going to drive down to LA for a summer and we’re going to get tattoos. So, how old do you have to be to get a tattoo in Cali with parental consent?
Well, isn’t that just great? Now I’ll have to wait ’til I’m out of college to get it. I’m already a year ahead in school. That’s why we wanted to go.

Actually, California is one of the states that does not legally allow any minors to get tattooed [even with parental consent]. You must be at least eighteen years old to get a tattoo in California.

Sorry, but it’s 18 in California. FYI in states where it’s 16 w/parental permission the parent usually has to accompany their child.
