How to keep my belly button ring piercing from getting gunky?
I’ve had my belly button pierced since june 26. It still continues to have a secretion that i notice around the ring. I’m still continuing to clean it with H2Ocean (salt water in a can) but it still continues to gunk. It isn’t red or irritated but i’m nervous because my belly button piercing rejected a couple years ago. What can i do??

You may be having a reaction to the sergical steel that the belly button ring is made of. Maybe you could talk to the person who pierced it and see what your options are. I got mine pierced last friday and I am not having any problems at all with mine…yet. I am also using the H2Ocean spray. Good luck.

I had this problem with my Vertical lip piercing, it was sore for months and kept on swelling up, so i started using antiseptic cream at night. Smear it generously on the area..do not rub in leave it to soak in over night, clean off next morning with warm salted water then use a shower head to wash away any salt residue. Do this until its clear.
Hope this helps
Good luck

I just got mine done a few weeks ago and I notice that some days mine will have that smelly secretion even though it also does not hurt or is not infected. If I just clean it out with soap and water and put the salt spray on it, it’s fine and goes away.
But, let’s face it… when you put holes in your body sometimes things are bound to come out of it. Navel piercings do take quite a while to heal so it’s probably normal for it to secrete every now and then. Just keep it as clean as possible.

Navel piercing can take from 6 to 12 months to heal, people are giving wrong advise. H2ocean is a great product to use, need to apply 4 times a day. If it is still secreting you might be knocking it and opening the wound. I would recommend you change your jewellery to titanium. If you cannot wear cheap diva earring you cannot wear surgical steel. I only use Wildcat body jewelery as most is made in asian countries who have no quality control. Dont buy from markets, fashion shops. Hope this helps you. Joff the piercer

The gunky stuff is part of the healing process, just use anti bacterial soap or H2Ocean and clean the area regularly. Props to Joff!
