If I have a normal ear piercing can I start off with gauging my ear with a size 12?
I’m going to gauge my ears soon and I want to know if it’ll be ok to go to a 12 right away.

I wouldn’t. When i gaged I started at 16, I just got some cheap ones from claires. I would advise getting the pack at hot topic that has several different sizes in it.

Normal one is either 18 or 20.
So normally, you wont be able to without shoving it in. I started with a 14. But you can sterilize a paper clip (the thicker ones) and put that in, then buy an earring to save money XD

it will hurt a lot trust me
you might want to start by going to a 16 for about a week or two and then go to a 14 for a little while and then go to a 12
because jumping from a normal earing size to a size 12 can rip your earlobe ive seen it before
plus it causes strain on your body
key thing is be patient
you will have them the size you want sooner or later
&& also USE LOTS OF LUB
i no lub is usually tooken sexually but when u gauge your ears its the key ingrediant
make sure its water based
hope i helped :]]

Try 14. That what I started with. And then the 12 is easy to get in after that.

I would start off with a taper, so you could work it in easier.
For example, get a 14 taper and put it in a little bit at a time. I would go back every hour or so and put it in a little bit more so you don’t totally F*** up your ears.

Don’t jump to a size 12 right away, because you could damage your ear. The best way to do it is to start slow at a 16. After gauging at each size, wait AT LEAST 3-4 weeks before going to a bigger size. I know it seems really slow, but it’s better to be safe instead of damaging your ear right? :)
Hope I helped and good luck :)

Did you pierce your ears yet? if not, i think you should slowly ease up to a larger Gage, unless you just like pain lol! you can get your ears pierced now with a larger gauge than the normal one that has been used for years now…that’s the only way you could handle just jumping up to a larger hole from a tiny one…..ears will get red and maybe infected if you inflame them by going to big too fast, too much worry :) good luck! be sensible, slow and easy.

Try 14 and then try a 10 I did that and helped me have the gauge size I wanted faster.

It all depend on what size your “normal” jewelry is at if you want to stretch it. More than likely, it is anywhere between 18 -14 gauge. Your best bet would be to go to a professional piercer and consult with them on the best size to use. Many of us will do the stretching for free and just charge for the jewelry. Some may charge $5 bucks. Either way it will be safer for you. Just make sure not to go too much at once and to wait at least a month between stretches.
Here is some good info on stretching:

I went to a 12 right away from my normal piercing , and let me tell you , it hurt really damn bad , and it took a while to get in , but I wouldn’t have done it any other way , it takes too long and costs too much money to go through all of those sizes , until you get to 8 , then from there you should do every size , but I would definatley do it , saves you alot of money and time(:
