Not really, it’s like a little pin prick but it’ll be over before you know it. The only downside i can think of is some work places, etc might not allow it No it should heal up very quickly Depending on how long you keep it in, do not take it out for at least three weeks to change even tho the bar because it can close up VERY quickly before it heals up properly. They will use a special needle with a plastic sheath they push it through you lip (it takes like a second) then they take out the metal needle bar in the slot to the plastic sheath and pull it back through leaving the bar in place, before screwing on the ball. Be sure to keep it clean, use some saline solution (salt water, you only need a little salt to water) 2-3 times a day for the first 2-3 weeks I’m sure it’ll look good luck great I like monroes :-)

A monroe piercing hurts just as badly as any other piercing, in comparison with other piercings I’ve had it really was not too bad. The healing process was a little tricky, they pierce it with a longer post to start with (so that your lip has space to swell after the piercing). You wear the longer post for about a month, or until the piercing is fully healed. It does swell and it does hurt for a few days after you have it done. I had a hard time with the longer post once the swelling went down, it rubbed the inside of my lip raw and blisters caused because the lips are high movement areas. Once it was healed it was WONDERFUL to downsize the Sun that it fit snuggly post to my lip. I havent taken mine out so I can not tell you what it would look like when you take it outas for the process, the piercing artist will clean the area and wipe away any saliva from inside your lip. The FIRMLY attach a clamp to the area to be pierced and a hollow needle through the feed clamp and through your lip. The jewelery is inserted through the hollow needle and the piercing of the artist removes the needle, leaving the jewelery in place. Then they screw on the jewel embelishment or whatever you chose and you’re off! You clean the area several times a day (after everything you eat drink or smoke) with a solution you can buy at any reputable piercing studio or make your own out of sea salt and water (not table salt because the iodine will irritate the piercing! ) Do not eat dairy or drink beer because it can cause to a contract yeast infection in your mouth! The only downside I have noticed is when I have a cold I have to clean it more frequently. It occasionally gets little gunkies around it but I wash them away with saltwater. Besides that it is awesome!
